We want to keep you informed about two key regulatory changes that may affect your shopping experience.
VAT Rate Increase in South Africa
Effective 1 May 2025, VAT will increase from 15% to 15.5%, affecting all taxable goods and services, including imports and non-resident services supplied for private use.
A further increase to 16% is planned for 1 April 2026.
We are ensuring our systems and pricing reflect the new rates and will update customers accordingly.
Purchases made before 1 May 2025 will still be taxed at 15%, unless a special rate rule applies.
What this means for you
- All displayed prices will reflect VAT at 15.5% from 1 May 2025.
- Any invoices, receipts, or credit notes issued on or after 1 May 2025 will include VAT at the new rate.
- If you notice discrepancies in VAT calculations on your documents, please contact us.
New USA Tariff Rules for South African Shipments
Starting 5 April 2025, South African goods valued over $800 shipped to the USA will incur a 30% tariff on the total value.
What this means for you
- The tariff applies in addition to any landed costs or shipping fees charged by couriers.
- The full value of the shipment is taxed. For example, if your shipment is worth $850, you will pay 30% of $850 ($255) in tariffs.
We remain committed to transparency and will provide updates as legislation progresses to keep your shopping experience smooth.
